The older L.J. gets, the more activities accompany each holiday. We enjoyed several Halloween events this year, along with our annual trip to the pumpkin patch.
We went to a pumpkin patch after we had family photos taken. There’s nothing quite like getting the whole family spit-shined and then spending the afternoon in a dust bowl. This was a smaller operation, lacking the true pumpkin patch of Burt’s or the many activities at Cagle. But it had pumpkins and so it sufficed.
We went on a hayride while there, and it was the first time L.J. enjoyed feeding hay to the animals!
The following weekend we had a neighborhood Halloween party that was a lot of fun. It was dubbed the “Under 40” party due to the amount of young kids in attendance and we enjoyed seeing friends and meeting new neighbors. L.J. had a great time running around with the kids. He’s not the biggest fan of new situations or crowds, so I was happy to see him having such a good time.
Halloween night was also quite enjoyable. Mike and L.J. went trick-or-treating with our neighbor and his two boys, while Hannah and I joined their mom and several other ladies for wine and candy distribution. It was a typically mild Georgia Halloween, so we sat outside on the driveway and chatted. Much-needed fun and relaxation for me!
One lady was a grandmother and held Hannah most of the evening. Uncharacteristically, Hannah fell asleep while she was being held. Afterward, she thanked me for letting her hold Hannah and told me how special it was to snuggle a little one for so long. It reminded me of my Grandma, who also loved snuggling babies, and so that made me feel quite happy to know I had spread a little joy to someone.
Sprinkled into our “big” activities were several smaller school festivities – so it was quite a spooky and fun two weeks!
