I didn’t do the best job of capturing monthly updates the first half of year two, but I’ll try to make up for it in the second half!
I re-read L.J.’s 19 month post, and was surprised at how many similarities they share at this age! Both L.J. and Hannah:
- Constant babble, though largely unintelligible
- L.J. had a larger vocabulary and a few 2-word phrases
- Hannah is up to around 5 words and no phrases
- (Still undecided on a speech evaluation)
- Little interest in the TV except for one preferred series and one YouTube show
- L.J.’s was Bubble Guppies
- Hannah’s is Sesame Street
- Both adore a specific Twinkle Twinkle Little Star rendition on YouTube
- Quite used to the word ‘No’
- Proficient walkers and stair climbers
- L.J. was just starting to climb
- Hannah’s been climbing for months
- Particular about one item of clothing
- L.J. loved hats!
- Hannah’s is shoes on her feet.
- Insistent on utensils at the table and love dipping sauces
- Note we were wrong about the utensils being why L.J. was picky; he’s still picky 3 years later!
- Hannah is much less picky. If she’s hungry, she’ll usually eat what is served.
- Separation anxiety in spades
- Both like things in sets of twos – one for each hand
- Curious little explorers!
- L.J. was content to explore within the boundaries set
- Hannah is constantly into anything and everything
I laughed when I read one very key difference between them. L.J. had a brand-new expression: the stink eye. Hannah perfected her stink eye at around 10 days of age and has been using it regularly ever since. (That’s not to say that Hannah is disagreeable; quite the contrary.)
Stink eye.....Hannah has honed her stink eye just as her mommy did at such a young infant age. Monica, your Grandpa Byrne told your "most favorite Grandma in the world" if looks could kill, someone would be dead! This too is not to say that Monica was disagreeable; she too was quite the contrary!
