How far along? 20 weeks, 2 days Halfway There!!!
How big is baby? About the size of a banana. (Doesn’t that seem like a weird comparison??)
Total weight gain: Around 9-10 pounds I think.
Maternity clothes? I’m running into a pickle here. Went to the maternity store on Friday night and all the tops are too big and all the work pants were really chintzy. Where do small people find maternity wear? (Without going to Pea in the Pod and spending a fortune.)
One other observation about maternity wear – I miss having the variety of clothes I usually do, but it does make getting dressed in the morning easier and creates less laundry.
Stretch marks? Still haven’t noticed any.
Exercise? No, not able to right now.
Sleep: No changes here…still not great, though some nights are better than others.
Movement: He has really started moving around the past few days. Most days I feel him several times throughout the day. I’m loving this new development! I ate a strawberry fruit bar the other day and it must have had a lot of sugar in it because he was really moving around after that.
Food cravings: Not really. I have found these little cheese wedges that are amazing on Triscuits. That’s pretty much my go-to afternoon snack. We could also probably buy stock in orange Gatorade at this point.
Food aversions: I have seriously turned into the world’s pickiest eater. I still don’t have a lot of true “make-me-gag” aversions, but a lot of things (especially meat) are really unappealing. Basic and plain is my mantra these days.
Gender: It’s a BOY!!
Labor Signs: Nope.
Symptoms: I have started to feel a bit better the past few days, so I’m hoping some of the things the cardiologist recommended are starting to take effect. However, I have felt pretty crummy this morning, so that’s discouraging.
My other “new” symptom is heartburn. I have heard (and read) it was coming, but didn’t really think it would affect me as I’ve never had heartburn before. Well, I was wrong. And Tums are awesome.
What people are saying: “Sit down!” “How far along are you?” “When do you find out what it is?” “Wow, you’re really starting to show!”
My mom and I stopped at Schlotzsky’s last weekend. I ordered a sandwich and the lady noticed I was pregnant. She asked how far along I was and then said, “I’ll be sure to have the meat double steamed for you to make sure it’s safe!” That’s was a funny exchange (and really sweet of her too).
Sweet Moments: My friend Jess send a box of baby goodies to us and we had fun opening them together. One of the items was an adorable elephant lovie – elephant head with a soft blanket body.
Me: “Oooh…how cute is this?! Look at this little lovie!!”
Mike: “What on earth is a lovie?”
Me: “You know…it’s umm…it’s a…you know…”
Mike: Completely blank stare
Me: “It’s like…it’s like…a…a little friend!” (picture me hugging said lovie)
Mike: “Oh, now I get it!”
Make room for baby: Not much this week. We got the wonderful box of goodies from my friend and then also got our first Smocked Auctions item in the mail.
Smocked Auctions is so much fun! It’s really too early for me to be doing that since we have no idea how big (or small) he will be…but I had heard about it and wanted to try it out. You pay through PayPal and I had a balance in my account (from who knows where…), so figured, why not? I got a gingham jon jon with a baseball theme on it, and I’m hoping it fits him come Spring!
You can Google Smocked Auctions to get all the details. It’s done every Tues/Thurs night through Facebook.
Miss Anything? I miss feeling normal. I realize I’m pregnant and I’ve not been feeling great, but I really miss feeling like my usual self. Not sure if that makes sense or not.
Looking forward to: Our 20 week appointment this week! I can’t wait to see him on the ultrasound again, and this is a pretty big appointment in terms of looking at his growth, etc. Praying that he continues to be healthy and is growing like a weed!
Worst moment this week: I am very happy to report that there hasn’t been a “worst moment” this week!!
Best moment this week: Hmm…this week has been pretty uneventful. I have really started to grow, which has been fun to watch, and I have also loved that he’s started moving around more.
