Potpourri

(you know, like the miscellaneous Jeopardy category…)

Close Up

Surprise! It’s L.J.! This picture not only displays his new little chompers but also shows off his beautiful eyes. We’re not sure what color they will end up yet, but we’re leaning towards hazel or green. They are very unique and we love them!

On the move!

On Saturday, 7/20, I put L.J. down on his play blanket and went into the kitchen. I looked up a few minutes later and he was halfway across the room! He took off slowly, but he can now barrel roll across the room quite quickly. He is also slowly learning how to work his way around objects, but does get frustrated when the couch won’t move out of his way. Below is the first time he made it from one end of the room to the other – close to 20 feet!

Speaking of…

Coffee Table Jungle Jim

L.J. has also determined that the coffee table is pretty darn interesting! He rolls around, under and sometimes into it, and finds the leaves fascinating. We are thankful for his helmet as he’s been blissfully unaware when he bonks his head on it. Little Man is going to be in for a rude awakening when his helmet comes off!

Sitting…or not…

L.J. has gotten much stronger with his sitting, though he’s still not doing it completely independently. Sometimes he intentionally falls over, notably when the Boppy is behind him. For some reason he loves to flop over the back of the Boppy, halfway upside down, and just relax that way. It doesn’t look comfortable to us, but he does it all the time!

Padded Cell

Just kidding, but I think mesh crib bumpers are in our near future. L.J. has finally stopped exclusively sleeping in newborn frog position, preferring his side these days. He likes to prop his feet up on the crib…and stick them out. Of course, with the latter he tends to get stuck and then he wakes himself up. You can fill in the rest of the story…

Tastes Like Bacon

Ten little piggies have found their way into L.J.’s mouth. I thought he was going to skip over the feet-in-mouth stage entirely, but he’s just discovered how awesome they are. Mmmm…

In Control (Placebo)

Guess who is already clamoring for control of the remote? He practically dives across the couch when he sees a remote, so we cleaned the old VCR remote and gave it to L.J.

IMG_1924

What? A VCR? Yes, we still have one. No, it hasn’t been used in half a decade. But hey, you never know when I might want to relive my high school glory days and watch Titantic or Romeo & Juliet. And my husband can’t snort or roll his eyes at that because he still has the 1986 Mets World Series on tape. Yeah…

@#$% Car Seat

I called Britax and begged asked for a few suggestions on how to make L.J.’s car seat a more pleasant experience for all involved. They provided three modifications, two of which worked and we implemented. After removing the infant padding and the gray rubber chest pads, I’m pleased to report that L.J. is more comfortable in his seat and mommy and daddy no longer refer to it with colorful language. We still don’t love it – or really like it all that much – but at least they don’t appear to be a $400 mistake.

Saved the Worst for Last

In this case, last is worst. L.J. picked up some kind of virus and has been battling diarrhea for the past week. Don’t worry, I didn’t take any pictures of that. And be very glad the blog isn’t capable of Smellavision. But let’s just say we’ve gone through a lot of diapers, a lot of wipes and a lot of patience on everyone’s part. There have been a few instances where he has clearly felt bad, but for the most part he’s been in good spirits. He’s been a real trooper!

  1. I enjoy reading your blog and viewing the photos. While it is hard to pick out a favorite photo I must say I love the photos of LJ and his toes. So sweet. He's growing each day and definitely exploring his surroundings.
    Love, Mom
