If you have a keen memory, you’ll know the dragonfly chair means we were up in Greenville! L.J. and I enjoyed a wonderful week with my parents and there is surely much to be thankful for this year!
There were several developments that happened during Week 50. L.J. learned to clap, which is adorably cute. He’s so proud of his new skill! He can also now give a “High 5,” which Daddy thinks is the coolest thing ever.
He also has an official first word! L.J.’s first word was “Mama.” You can only imagine how wonderful that made me feel! On Friday morning he woke up and was babbling in his crib. Then, clear as a bell, he called out, “Mama!” Even though he’d been practicing all week, that was when I was absolutely certain “Mama” was L.J.’s first word. In addition to “Mama” he also says “Mom” sometimes, which is odd because I am almost always referred to as Mama or Mommy.
L.J. had his first taste of milk this week and loved it! His teacher recommended that we take Thanksgiving week to work on introducing L.J. to a cup. It was a lot more work than I thought, and it’s still a work in progress. My mom was a big help; I really didn’t have a clue how to help him make the transition. He is now taking a morning formula bottle and usually one other formula bottle at some point during the day, but aside from that is eating table food and milk to drink.
In addition to milk, he also had cottage cheese for the first time this past week and it’s pretty much his new favorite food. Move over green beans, you’ve been usurped. If cottage cheese is on his plate, he wants nothing else!
