It has been really sweet to see L.J. develop his first friendships. One of his best buddies lives at the end of our street and is in L.J.’s class at school. They call each other “Ra-ra” and “And-on,” greet each other with hugs and get so excited if they see the other outside on a walk.
“Ra-ra” has a new baby sister and seeing her has piqued L.J.’s interest in babies. He looks for babies when we are out and about, excitedly pointing out any he sees. He says the word “baby” very clearly!
I decided to get out one of my baby dolls to see how he’d react. I dressed it (a girl, actually) in a blue sleeper and set it up for L.J. to see. He was quite interested in it – even asking for “baby?!” the next morning.
(Funny but true: he got mad at the doll at one point because I had put it in his Bumbo seat, which, despite being a seat for babies, happens to be one of his favorite places to sit.)
