The Art of Staging

Our current (rental) house is now on the market, which means we have the fun task of keeping it show-ready with a toddler underfoot. It hasn’t been as bad as I thought so far – we’ve been doing a good job of not making messes (L.J. included) so it’s been relatively easy to keep things picked up.

I was anxiously awaiting for the listing to go live because I wanted to see the house pictures. We did a thorough cleaning and some de-personalizing before the photographer came, and she also moved things while they were taking pictures. The listing looks great, but it also shows super realistic photos like this one:

Ha, yeah right. Completely bare counters in the kitchen? Nary a crumb in sight? Never happens.
