We’re settling in and things are starting to settle down a little bit. The furniture is arranged, mirrors and large artwork hung (thanks Mom and Dad!!) and my SIL is coming over this weekend to help me accessorize and personalize it a bit more. I’m very excited about that!
We have done a few small things, including purchasing a
pretty new light for above the kitchen table…
…and getting a neutral rug to soften all the wood tones in
the family room.
The nursery was sweet and perfect for a baby girl, but when they moved everything out the walls went from complimenting to glowing. I mean glowing. I’ve tried but can’t capture the true shade on camera. This is fairly close; just imagine it on several walls in a room with lots of sunlight. Whoa.
It’s the dead of winter and only Queen Elsa would relish being outside right now, so we haven’t met any of our neighbors yet. I’m anxious for warm weather to (hopefully) meet some other young families in the neighborhood.
Our commute continues to be atrocious, taking a minimum of
one hour each way. We’ve been splitting up drop off and pick up as much as
possible to make it easier. Unfortunately, poor L.J. must endure both and gets
pretty antsy in the afternoon.
Good times, right? We are looking at transitioning him to a
school closer to home, but the most desirable schools have quite undesirable
wait lists. So we’ll wait…as patiently as possible…until a spot is available.
In the meantime:
Fortunately it’s not bumper-to-bumper the whole way, but still. Yuck. Moving him closer to home will literally cut our commute time in half, making for a very reasonable commute.
