More Landon-isms

"I just put him in the cart, ok? I love him!"
We’ve seen another big spurt in L.J.’s language development recently. We’re hearing longer, more complex sentences and conversations are becoming more detailed. And the things he says!

A few more of our favorites:

“maggots” = magazines
“iPewter” = iPad
“cloth-wash” = washcloth
“bay-ters” = batteries
"pack-pack" = backpack
"dingbell" = doorbell
"banger" = hammer

-------

They must be working on manners at school, because L.J. has taken to saying the following polite phrases. He says them so clearly and so sincerely! It’s really sweet.

“How was your day, Daddy?”
“Bless you Mommy!”

-------

He now understands that we say grace before dinner and will tell us it’s time to “Bless the Lord.”

We say the following blessing:
“Bless us O Lord, and these Thy gifts, which we are about to receive from Thy bounty, through Christ, our Lord, Amen.”

A few times recently L.J. has said he wants to help say grace. And it goes like this:

*Looks intently at Mommy*
Me: “Bless us O Lord…”
*Looks intently at Daddy*
Daddy: “And these Thy gifts…”
Landon: AMEN!

We figure the sincerity of his meaning counts and silently finish the blessing ourselves.

-------

Somewhere along the way he heard the phrase “silly goose” – probably from me. He’s now taken to referring to himself as a “funny goose” and will frequently try to use that as an excuse for why he’s misbehaved.

Me: “L.J.! We do not throw toys! That’s naughty!”
L.J.: “That’s NOT naughty. I’s a funny goose.”

Needless to say, we’re working on what qualifies as “funny” and what qualifies as plain bad behavior.

---------

He’s also learned the word “love” lately. He usually uses it appropriately in reference to family and his Baba, but sometimes he uses it for emphasis.

Pulling into the parking lot of a new-to-us park:

“I love this park!”
“L.J. you’ve never been to this park before…”

--------

L.J.'s most definitely an early bird! Now that he wakes up in his bed, he can easily get up and come down the hall to get us. At which point he loudly proclaims:

"It's not nighttime! It's up time!"

He's yet to be convinced by our gravelly voices at 4 a.m. that it is most definitely not "up time!".
