Hannah – 14 Months

IMG_8680_Edited

Sister Bear is growing and changing by the day! So much is happening right now – and on the brink of happening, too.

She’s very, very close to walking independently! She’ll take a few steps here and there, and can easily stand up and remain standing without assistance. But speed rules and so crawling it is for now.

She has words!! Like L.J., “Mama” was her first word. So far she says:

Mama – Refers to me or my mom
Dada – Refers to Mike or my dad
Landon – Sounds sorta like “Yan-on”; distinctly two syllables
L.J.
Baba – Refers to her bottles and her collection of Wubbanub pacis
Wa-wa – Water

She can shake her head for “no” and “yes” – though typically shakes her head no for both yes and no. Not confusing at all…

She claps, folds her hands for prayer, and lifts them high for “Hooray!”

The Wubbanubs are here to stay and Hannah’s a big fan of her little friends! We encouraged the pacis over her thumb since they (in theory) are an easier habit to break. I haven’t seen her suck her thumb in some time.

We have Raffi the giraffe, Mini Monkey the monkey and Pinky the elephant. She is quite possessive of them and L.J. is quite fond of swiping them. The latter makes no sense whatsoever, because he’s also the first one to go find one for her and/or make sure they are in her bed before she goes to sleep. Chalk that one up to: “Brothers!”

Girlfriend can eat! Seeing as she’s still in 18-month clothes, I’m not sure where she’s putting it all. She seriously loves food and so far is not that picky. She likes most of what we put on her plate. She especially loves my baked tilapia, roasted broccoli and vanilla ice cream. She despises green beans (has from day one) and plain buttered noodles. Noodles must come with sauce!

Hannah would prefer that I operate in double-time speed when making dinner and loudly squawks “Ma-MA!” repeatedly from her high chair if I’m not fast enough for her liking. She sounds just like a parrot or a macaw and, honestly, it’s both hilarious and super annoying.

She loves bath time, water in general, playing with L.J. and making messes. Exploring is at the top of her priority list and in her mind, nothing is off limits. She’s not a fan of our child-proofing efforts. She climbs on everything, rearranges any furniture she can push and will pull anything she can reach off a table. Sister Bear is busy.

Speaking of L.J., the two of them are thick as thieves and the best of friends. They absolutely adore each other and love to play together.

She’s a happy, feisty ball of energy and we couldn’t possibly love her more!
