Good News!

Drumroll, please…I got a job! It felt like a long time, but I know it’s really short compared to many searches and for that I feel very fortunate.

I had a very strong feeling from the get-go – you might even call it a conviction – that everything was going to work out just fine. Alongside that, I had an equally strong feeling that I must “let go and let God” with this whole search. This was a very difficult concept for me to embrace, as anything involving the words plan/control/organize are much more my vibe.

But it was a feeling I just couldn’t shake and so I decided to make it my “thing” for Lent this year. My waistline will attest that I didn’t choose to abstain from anything food related this Lenten season…moving on.

I did my fair share of planning, organizing and searching. I worked hard to find jobs that might be a fit. I also worked hard to be patient for the right job opportunity to unfold. And it did.

I was invited to interview for a position with Delta. Yes, that Delta. Cue: “OMG I secured an interview with Delta!!!” I made it through the interview process and was offered the position. I was so proud of myself!!

I turned the position down.

It was a great opportunity, interesting position and had good growth potential. The catch? Delta’s corporate office is at the airport. My commute would have been 1-1.5 hours each way on an average day. There was simply no way to make it work with our family.

At this point, the only other opportunity I had in my pipeline was a small freelance contract, so turning down such a nice-looking carrot was really tough.

Well, guess what? A few days later that “small freelance contract” turned into a full-time, permanent position. It was also exactly what I was hoping for in a new position. After a rigorous interview process, I was offered and accepted the job. I’m really proud of myself (again) and very excited about this new beginning!

The kids will start back to school full-time next week, and my first day will be April 10. Looking forward to having a few days to myself and then a fresh new start!
