Bookish Excuses + New Posts

Well hello there! I miss my little corner of the Internet. I keep wanting to write a post, but then realize how far behind I am and it is a bit daunting. They do take awhile to put together (most of them anyway), and my laptop is old and ornery on a good day…

I also have another excuse titled Beneath A Scarlet Sky. For a solid week I devoted every free minute I had to reading this extraordinary book. It is based on the true story of Pino Lella, an Italian teenager, during the last two years of WWII. It is the type of book that you read in the evening and spend the next day thinking about. It is thrilling, tense, raw and sweeping. It is in the same vein as The Nightingale and All The Light We Cannot See. I recommend all three, but if you only read one – make it Beneath a Scarlet Sky.

(Actually, if we’re talking about books and excuses, my other one would be Hillbilly Elegy. That also took my free time over several evenings and is another recommended book. It was very interesting and, like everyone else who’s read it, I wish I could have met Mamaw.)

I am going to make an effort to catch up. Here’s three to start:

L.J.’s scar revision surgery

Hannah’s GSU Great Baby Race Victory

L.J. and Hannah Update
