On Monday, June 26, Mike posted a photo on Facebook commemorating the 7th anniversary of our engagement.
Our engagement took place at Mike’s aunt and uncle’s beach house in Currituck, NC. It was a beautiful evening overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. As evidenced by my appearance in the photo above, I had no clue that such a momentous event was about to take place!
It was the beginning of a wonderful journey together, a journey that has seen us transition from young city dwellers to new parents to a family living in the suburbs. We have been blessed with good health, two beautiful children and a strong marriage.
These are the things I’ve thought about this week as I’ve looked at the photo a few times and reminisced about all that’s taken place the past 7 years.
What has Mike thought about after posting the photo on Monday? Behold yesterday’s conversation:
Mike: “You know that photo of us I posted on Monday?”
Me: “Yes. It was very sweet!”
Mike: “Do you know how much I’ve aged in 7 years?! I look so old!”
Me: “7 years is a decent chunk of time, dear.”
Mike: “But I look so old! I had no idea marriage and two kids could do that in 7 years!”
For the record, I think we still clean up quite nicely!
