L.J. Goes On Vacation (By Himself!)

L.J. had a very special opportunity to enjoy his first “Nana and Poppa Camp Week”! He had a fantastic time and we also heard that he was on his very best behavior while he was away. We’re so glad everyone had such a good time! Thanks for hosting, Nana and Poppa!

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

• Left Atlanta at 7:00 PM, arrived in Greenville around 10:00
• We drove Mommy’s van to Greenville (and left our van for mommy) because we needed to get some brake work and wheel balancing done on mommy’s van.
• On the way to Greenville we had to drive through McDonald’s for a happy meal-chicken nuggets, fries and yogurt tube for LJ because he did not eat dinner at home as he was too excited about going to Greenville.
• After we unpacked the van, we went on the nature trail with flashlights searching for frogs. We spotted very large frogs on the trail and also some smaller toads. Lots of spider webs also.
• When we got back to the house, LJ decided he would sleep in Nana and Poppa’s bedroom on the air mattress. So we set up the mattress and lights finally went out at 11:45 pm.

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

• Uncle JT came into the bedroom at 7:45 to say goodbye before going to work. Everyone was awake.
• LJ made his bed and had breakfast of Cherrios and milk.
• We transferred Hannah’s car seat to Nana’s car. LJ said he was too big for the car seat but we convinced him otherwise.
• LJ spotted his big bike hanging in the garage. This is a 16 inch bike with pedals and training wheels. He wanted Poppa to get it down. LJ was very excited.
• LJ rode his new pedal bike. At first he was hesitant and then quickly decided he should ride it through the puddles. He quickly got the hang of the two wheel bike (4 wheel at this point).
• Finally got to ride in Nana’s new car. (Nana does funny crazy driving-wiggling the steering wheel.) We took Monica’s van for repair at Vintage Auto. New brakes front and back. We were told to take the van to a tire store and have wheels balanced.
• Nana, Poppa and LJ went to Toys R Us for some big boy toys to play with at our house. Then off to Sams for a few groceries. LJ chose a huge bag of Veggie Straws!
• Lunch at Sam’s…hotdog and drink.
• Nap at 2:30 PM until 4:45. Poppa went to the gym. Nana made dinner.
• LJ filled up courtyard fountain with water and then the fun began when LJ got himself all wet and Poppa came home and joined in on the fun! Filled the small blue pool with water.
• Dinner at 6:30. JT came home and LJ told JT he “loved his new pedal bike”
• After dinner LJ and Poppa put together his new Lego construction set.
• LJ played quietly with his lego set for a long time.
• Additional bike riding in the evening. LJ has improved his riding skills already.
• Camp out starting at 10:00 on the screen porch. It’s hot and muggy outside. But Poppa and LJ slept soundly all night until the birds woke them up at 6:00.

Thursday, June 15, 2017

• Up at 6:30.
• Played with the new waffle blocks and farm animals
• A little crabby so went out on screen porch and laid down on the couch with Ipad
• Breakfast of chocolate mini wheats and yogurt tube, milk
• Stopped at Nana’s office to see everyone. Nana K was not there. 3 lollipops!
• Went to the downtown Greenville Airport to play on the playground and ride bike.
• We saw several small aircraft taking off and landing.
• It was a very hot day 91 degrees. Bike chain fell off and Poppa did not have any tools with him to fix it.
• We came home from the airport playground at 12:00. Poppa made lunch for LJ while Nana went to Walmart to purchase a a bigger swimming pool for the courtyard.
• After lunch Poppa and LJ fixed his bicycle chain.
• Poppa went on a 41 mile bike ride.
• LJ helped Nana set up the new pool. LJ slipped in the pool and his clothes got all wet-very funny! He laughed at himself.
• LJ napped between 1:30 and 3:45.
• We picked up mommy’s van at 4:30. New front and rear brakes including rotors. LJ asked Nana to crazy drive but Nana said no-too many cars on the road.
• Back to Nana and Poppa’s house to go swimming! It was fun. We made a whirpool in the pool by walking in circles. Then floated on our bellies in the whirpool.
• We had a picnic dinner outside. Yummy pizza, yogurt, strawberries and cookies with whipped topping. Chocolate milk to drink. Nana and Poppa had salad too but LJ politely said no thank you.
• Went swimming again after dinner.
• Took a short bike ride in the evening and also a hike on the nature trail.
• Bedtime 10PM!

Friday, June 16, 2017

• Awake at 7:00
• Breakfast was toast with butter and cinnamon.
• It was a busy morning. Nana and Poppa met with the tree trimmer guy at 8:30. They had a couple of huge limbs removed off of the big old oak tree. It was mighty noisy. At 9:00 their roofer came over for signatures and payment for the new roof to be installed. The hail storm did a lot of damage! At 9:30 Nana left and took mommy’s car to have the tires balanced. LJ was perfect during all of the meetings…he colored pictures and his Ipad was a big help with entertaining him.
• LJ and Poppa rode his new bike and went swimming in the pool while Nana was gone.
• Lunch was cheese roll ups, yogurt and apples with peanut butter. More chocolate milk.
• After lunch LJ and Poppa read books together
• Then….all of sudden LJ was gone! We knew he was in the house and we found him in his bed going to sleep…he didn’t tell anyone he was going to bed. Slept 12:30 to 2:45.
• Poppa went to the gym.
• Nana K stopped over for a visit after LJ’s nap. She brought him a bounce ball that lights up.
• LJ played Poppa’s drums! He really enjoyed this activity.
• LJ painted in the afternoon and then Poppa joined him and they painted some more on the big cement horse head that Poppa had previously found out in the country on his bike ride.
• Dinner was at 6:30. BLT sandwiches, strawberries, yogurt and whipped cream. LJ declined corn on the cob.
• We played with a ball in the street for a long time after dinner. Kicking, running and throwing.
• LJ watched a program and then decided to check out the pool at 8:00 pm (works for a bath as far as Nana is concerned). He played in the pool until 9:00. It was dark outside. He thought this was very cool.
• Bedtime snack request was a PB&J sandwich.
• Bedtime was 9:30.
• LJ seemed tired today but he sure perked up several times especially the night time dip in the pool.

Saturday June 17, 2017

• Poppa and JT went for a 37 mile bike ride with the shop.
• LJ Up at 7:30
• He ate his cereal with milk for breakfast on the patio. It started drizzling on us! We went inside to kitchen to finish eating.
• LJ colored a picture.
• LJ was dying to go swimming at 8:00 AM! Told him it is too early, neighbors are still sleeping.
• Nana & LJ played 2 rounds of ”GoFish” (pick a card, pick a card)
• Poppa and JT came home from their bike ride.
• Poppa, Nana and LJ went swimming 10:30 to 12:00.
• Our final activity was a picnic lunch outside in our wet swimsuits. Quesadillas with cheese and strawberries with whipped cream. LJ loves strawberries!
• Traveled to Atlanta to meet mommy and daddy at 1:00 pm.

We had a fantastic time with LJ this week! We had so much fun and LJ was a delight. We love you LJ.
