18 months. Officially a toddler. How did we get here so fast?!
Hannah is so Hannah. I suppose it’s that way for every child. But each month seems to add just a little more sugar and spice to her personality. A little extra seasoning, or “goodness” as I heard on the radio this morning. There is never, ever a dull moment when this child is awake!
The photo below? Daily.
At her 18 month appointment, Hannah weighed in at 23 lbs, 14 oz. Still a full 5 pounds lighter than L.J. at 18 months! She is tall for her age at 32 inches tall. 90+ percentile. Let’s compare:
At 18 months
At 17 (LJ) and 17.5 months
Hold on. I need a moment. I remember L.J. like that as if it was yesterday. Three years ago?!? Hold me.
She wears both 18- and 24-month clothes. Some 24-month clothes are still quite big on her. Her teeny little feet are almost a size 5 and nearly skinny enough to need narrow shoes.
Her hair deserves it’s own gold medal for originality. Girlfriend still has a serious mullet. It keeps growing longer and longer in the back, with the top in no apparent hurry to catch up. To be fair, it is a rather adorable mullet with very sweet curls in the back.
Speaking of hair, Sister Bear sported her first pigtails this month! She loves to have her hair brushed and have “pretties” in her hair (though they never last long). She’s also a big fan of purses, bags and necklaces.
In other firsts, Hannah has a brand-new baby girl cousin! She’s rather indifferent to Emilia at this point, as long as Mike or I aren’t holding her.
And, Hannah had her second beach trip this month! She loved the beach, was very wary of the ocean (thank you, Jesus) and ate more sand than I care to recall.
We said goodbye to 24/7 Wubbanubs. She still loves them at nap and bedtime, and they are the first thing she looks for when she gets home.
The other thing she looks for more than anything is her brother. She asks for him anytime he is out of her sight. I love watching their bond strengthen and develop. They are so close and so protective of each other.
Her favorite thing to spot are dogs and ‘dog’ is a common word. She points them out anytime she sees them, and loves looking at pictures of them. The irony? She is terrified of any and all live dogs.
She’s not a picky eater, but either eats voraciously or not at all. It evens out. She loves almost any kind of fruit and will munch on raw broccoli and carrots. Frozen tubes of yogurt are a favorite. Diluted apple juice immediately elicits happy squeals and wiggles. Like her brother, she despises pickles and anything with avocado in it. Her favorite meal is probably spaghetti.
Happy 18 months, sweet girl! We love you!
