Welcome Summer!

GARK6593

I know. I haven’t managed to blog about late last fall or last winter yet, but here we are. Fortunately for me, my new job keeps me quite engaged and busy during the day. Unfortunately for this blog, that means posting is now much less regular than it used to be. Fill in the blank as to when I used to draft many of my posts…

I suppose the “new job” is no longer new – I reached the 1-year mark on April 10! It’s been an interesting year learning a new company and new industry. I’ve learned a lot and my job is interesting; definitely like the job content. I also really enjoy being on the corporate side and doubt I will ever return to an agency-style environment. My commute is horrible and the recent permanent closure of one freeway lane has added 15-20 minutes – commute home is now usually a solid hour. Ugh. Our precarious attempt at balancing schedules continues.

The forecast was gloomy over Memorial Day weekend, but the weather held off and we were able to enjoy time at the pool. The kids were SO excited! Mommy and Daddy were excited that the water temperature was actually bearable.

Our neighborhood had a Pool Opening Day party. Hannah was blown away by the food everyone brought to share. Swimming and an open buffet? Life goals achieved. The following weekend at the pool, after swimming for a bit, she looked at me and said, “Snack time! I want strawberries and cheese and a hot dog.” She was quite disappointed to realize dinner and snacks were not an every pool trip occurrence.

Eventually we’ll teach the kids a bit more about why we celebrate Memorial Day, but for now they were really excited that we had three days of weekend instead of two. (Trust me, the adults were equally thrilled about the extra day!!)
