At 2 weeks, L.J. continues to spend the majority of his time sleeping, eating and/or keeping the Pampers corporation in business.
At exactly 2-weeks old, L.J. celebrated his first Christmas! I think it’s neat that his birthday is 2 weeks before Christmas and my birthday is 2 days before Christmas. He was very spoiled by his grandparents, aunts and uncles! I decided to continue my dad’s tradition of taking a yearly photo of his Christmas haul:
And this photo is just plain cute:
He had lots of fun hanging out with Nana and Grandpa this weekend!
Having my mom and dad in town also meant that Mike and I went on our first solo outing since L.J. was born – a quick run to Target. They were so excited about having him all to themselves for an hour that they practically shoved us out the door – too funny.
His cord fell off last Saturday (Dec. 22), which means that L.J. got to experience his first bath during his second week. I was really excited to give him a bath in his new sink tub, but it turned out to be a bit more nerve-racking than I thought. I was so focused on the temperature that I filled the tub a bit too full and L.J. may or may not have gotten a taste of Burt’s Bees-infused bath water. (My dad banged my head on the cabinet during my first bath and I turned out just fine…)
L.J.’s opinion of his first bath is pretty self-evident by these photos:
Look at that face!
The only part of the bath he enjoyed was grabbing ahold of the towel and scrunching it up against his face.
In other L.J. news this week:
- He has outgrown his Newborn size clothes and is now in 0-3 month size.
- He’s on a pretty regular feeding schedule, eating every three hours. At night, he will wake up at the 3 hour mark almost on the dot.
- He is still very mellow and content overall, but he has started to have a short fussy period in the evening.
- He has started to smile (a little bit) in his sleep, so we are anxiously awaiting his first real smiles!
- He is seeing better and will now look around while he’s awake and will look up at the toys on his play mat.
We wouldn’t be (new) parents if we didn’t have a handful of goofy nicknames for him:
- Lovebug (Mommy)
- Bug-Bug (Mommy)
- Little Man (Daddy)
- Little Buddy (Daddy)
- Sir Squirmy (Both)
And, finally, I was playing with our camera (it’s too much fun when you have a willing sound asleep subject!) and I managed to capture his Mr. Magoo expression. He makes the most hilarious faces, but this is one of my favorites:
I must say Nana and Grandpa are so excited about this little man...of the fun we plan to have in the coming years. We can love, hug and spoil him and then give him back to you!
