Well, that was fun. Just kidding, moving is not fun. The move itself went smoothly and the movers were efficient with their time. Thank goodness, because moving isn’t cheap, either.
My parents were amazing and kept L.J. from Friday afternoon – Sunday afternoon, giving us the whole weekend to get things moved and start unpacking. L.J. had lots of fun spending the weekend with Nana and Grandpa at the hotel, and I think they had fun too :) We got a report that he ate well, slept well and was on his absolute best behavior. We were so, so grateful that they came down to take care of him! It truly gave me the peace of mind to be able to fully focus on the move.
My dad and youngest brother also earned a huge “Thank You!” for putting up all new blinds in the house. This house has a lot of windows! There were blinds on only a few of the windows, so it was a big task.
The unpacking and organizing is coming along. Mother Nature threw us a bone in the form of an ice storm, giving us two days at home to continue Operation Unpack. It’s not the easiest thing with a toddler underfoot, but we’ve made serious progress!
We are enjoying our new house! Well, mostly. L.J. is still trying to decide if he likes his new bedroom. He uncharacteristically throws a big fit when he is put down for a nap or goes down for the night. After one epic boycott he (also uncharacteristically) fell asleep on the couch for a lengthy nap.
He wanted to make sure we knew just how unhappy he was, so he chewed the veneer off his crib rail. Twice. Not just bite marks either – the rail is now sporting chunked and splintered wood. So just when I was getting his room finished up, I had to do this classy maneuver on his crib rail:
In other news, our dryer did not survive the move. We think the heating element is broken. So we spent one evening transforming the bonus room into L.J.’s playroom.

After:
Then the very next day we turned it into Camp Laundry:
(Is it ironic that if the dryer had gone out even four days prior we could have just used the on-site laundry at the apartment complex??)
A move is never without a few hiccups, right?
We are loving all the extra space our new house has! Unpacking isn’t fun, but I have enjoyed putting things away with extra space to spare. We’ve made a few trips to Lowe’s and Target for a few organizing helpers that I’ll be sharing soon – namely our awesome new pantry! I’ve gotten some requests for house pictures too – I’ll share a few once we finish getting things settled.
In the meantime, you can enjoy L.J.’s newest and most favorite dinner game – “Where’s L.J.?!”
(Don’t worry, Mom…we are still eating at the table. It’s just currently being used as a picture staging area…)
