We headed west to Pennsylvania and arrived in Philadelphia late in the afternoon. It was so good to see my friend Jess and her boys! The kids were so cute with each other – L.J. in awe of the “big boys” and Ethan and Owen so sweet with L.J.
Owen and L.J. are only 6 months apart, but that’s a big span of time for toddler development. I kept marveling at the things that Owen was able to do, wondering if L.J. would really be able to do those things by his second birthday. It seemed like such a big difference in abilities, but Jess assured me that toddlers are known for making big strides in short spans of time.
We enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner at Peace a Pizza in nearby Bryn Mawr. I still laugh about the name because we had no clue where we were going, and the whole time we were following Jess looking for “Pizza, Pizza.” The coolest thing about this restaurant was the soda machine. It had several selections of all-natural sodas that were very tasty. I’ve never seen a machine like it before.
After dinner we headed to a playground to burn off some energy before bedtime. I got some cute shots of L.J.!
The next morning we headed out to the Philadelphia Zoo. We didn’t have time to tour the whole zoo – it’s pretty large – so Jess and the boys took us to their favorite exhibits. Local tour guides are the best!
After a morning at the zoo we headed back to Jess’ house for lunch and rest time. All too soon, it was time to leave for the next part of our adventure. But not before we got some great shots of the boys!
It was hard to say goodbye to such a sweet friend and her family, but we were so thankful that we got to spend some time with them on our trip!
