A Fairly Ordinary Weekend

It was our first full weekend home in a while, so we decided to take advantage of the time and get things done!

We kicked off the weekend by treating ourselves to Chinese on Friday night. It was delicious – so glad we’ve found great Chinese takeout right up the street. L.J. unloaded the bag for us, including taking all the sauce packets out one by one.

Saturday involved 3 trips to Home Depot, which naturally means there was some type of home improvement action going on. Mike spruced up the backyard by laying down mulch and adding extra river rocks to the walkway. It took all day, but it looks awesome! L.J. and I avoided the sweltering temps and heavy lifting by running errands. We wrapped up at Costco, where L.J. directed item placement in the cart and taste-tested samples. (L.J.’s favorite: Acai berry smoothie. Mommy’s favorite: amaretto cookies.)

L.J. was very excited about the new overalls he picked out at Kohls. He insisted on wearing them the remainder of the evening. He practiced channeling his inner DJ:

Sunday was low-key with the requisite grocery shopping and house tidying. I cleaned L.J.’s bedroom closet and the playroom, removing outgrown clothes, toys and books and rearranging things. Much better! We wrapped up the weekend with a park playdate with Ra-Ra and Didi. L.J. was so happy to burn off energy with his buddy! It was crazy hot, but he had also dumped water on his head in the below pics.
