Hilton Head Vacation, Part 1

We were very fortunate this year to be treated to two Hilton Head beach vacations! We went with my family at the end of May. It was such a nice time of year to be on the island! It was not very crowded and the weather was perfect. It was warm and sunny all week – very nice to sit out at the beach or by the pool without roasting!

The condo we stayed in worked out really well, and had the best baby pool! It was a zero-entry pool with little fountains toward the edge. We enjoyed it just as much as the big pool. I’d like one just like it in my backyard!

L.J.'s favorite toy in the baby pool was a watering can! He had lots of fun watering everything, including himself and the grass outside the fence.

I can’t say it was the most relaxing vacation because I ended up working a good bit of the week on a work project that imploded spectacularly every time I blinked. That project still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. The times I wasn’t working were very relaxing and it was so nice to have such and uninterrupted stretch of time with my family!

During our trip, L.J. learned to jump off the side of the pool with daddy's help. He was so proud of his new skill!

L.J. did well with the beach and the pool, warming up to both more than last year. He still prefers both in pretty small doses, though. Sometimes we spent more time getting ready than we did in the water.

A trip to Hilton Head is not complete without a trip to Lawton Stables. Landon was so excited to see "Charley." We also got to see Callie the deer. She is tame and usually resting in the shade, but she does like to be petted. After seeing the animals, we ventured into Sea Pines so L.J. could play on the playground.

We tried out a new activity at the beginning of our trip: foot golf. It’s a strange new sport that is pretty much playing golf with a soccer ball.. It’s an actual, abridged golf course with enlarged holes to accommodate the bigger ball. It was interesting to try something new, though with my utter lack of athletic ability (and being completely out of shape), I was thankful when we reached the 9th and final hole.

Thanks for treating us all to a great week at the beach, Mom and Dad!
