Hannah – 2 Months Old

IMG_6797

Hannah is two months old! She’s our little peanut and still very squishy and snuggly. She’s almost 3 pounds lighter than L.J. was at two months.

Weight: 11 lbs (50th percentile)

Diaper Size: Size 1 in Pampers

Clothes: 3 month outfits fit comfortably; outgrowing 3-month sleepers in length, but swims in most 6-month sleepers.

Personality

Oh, Miss Hannah. You not only look like mommy did as a baby, you also apparently inherited some of my baby personality traits. You are a rather serious baby, often fussy and irritated for no apparent reason. You’re just not a happy camper much of the time. But that’s ok…we love you regardless of your disposition!

You have a beautiful smile that lights up your whole face. We can catch a glimpse of your smile for about half hour each morning after your first morning bottle. And…that’s about it. See above paragraph. But – another ‘but’ here – the fact that we don’t get to see that smile too often makes it even more special when you share it with us. It makes mommy feel like a million dollars!

You are starting to coo and “talk” to us. Some of the noises you make sound exactly like the ones L.J. used to make. Same tone, pitch, inflection, etc. I did a double-take the first time I heard it!

Playtime

Hannah is completely fascinated by her hands and is working diligently at figuring out how to get her thumb in her mouth. She can actually get her entire fist into her mouth, which is pretty impressive.

She is a still a big fan of her giraffe Wubbanub, whom we call “Raffi.” L.J. takes it from her and puts it in his mouth frequently, which typically leads to both kids crying – one from wanting her paci back and one from getting in trouble. Sigh…

Hannah has started to watch the birds hanging from her swing, as well as watch herself in the mirror above it. Her swing is hit or miss – at two months, her favorite “spot” is the blue bouncer. We have a multitude of seating spots for Hannah sprinkled throughout the first floor. Some days I get so desperate for anything that will keep her happy so I can put her down and get something done.

Eating

Hannah takes 3 ounces every 2.5-3 hours. Her early morning feeding is usually 4 ounces, but she has little interest in upping her intake the rest of the day.

Sleeping

We have no daytime schedule whatsoever. Definitely something we need to work on! Hannah flat refuses to nap for more than 20-30 minutes unless I am holding her. Getting anything done around the house during the day has proven almost impossible right now. Some days it’s 3 p.m. before I can find a window to make a bite for lunch. I never believed that was possible until I had a fussy baby!

She makes up for her lack of sleep during the day by sleeping great at night! I am so incredibly thankful for that! Hannah typically sleeps from 10-10:30 to 4-4:30 before waking for a bottle.

Hannah sleeps swaddled in a Pack ‘n Play in our room. L.J. wakes up if I walk past his room in the middle of the night, so I will probably keep Hannah in with us until she doesn’t need that feeding anymore.

Milestones/Firsts

We spent a good portion of month two in Greenville, enjoying lots of time with Nana, Poppa and Uncle J.T.

Her first restaurant experience was the Whistle Stop Café in Traveler’s Rest, SC and her first “big” outing was Haywood Mall in Greenville.

Developmentally, she is now able to raise her head for brief periods when doing tummy time. She has great head control for her age.

She also shared her first smiles with us and her first coos!

Letter to Hannah

Dear Hannah,

Being a mom for the second time is an equally great adventure. I am so glad I have L.J.’s baby book to refer back to! It’s helpful to remember what milestones, etc. happened when – but it’s also very interesting to look back and see how you are alike and how you are different.

Mostly, you are very different. You look different from each other and you have very different temperaments. I like that, though. You are uniquely you and I get to experience the wonder and joy of discovering who you are.

As you’ve been with us for more time, we’ve found ourselves more frequently referring to “the kids.” I love that I am able to say kids plural. You have been such a wonderful addition to our family!

You are a cherished blessing, my sweet girl.

Love,
Mommy
