How far along? 35 weeks, 2 days
How big is baby? His unofficial fruit size is a honeydew melon.
Total weight gain: 20 pounds as of last week.
Stretch marks? Not yet.
Exercise? Just the errands I run on Saturday mornings. (Which usually exhaust me, but at least it gets me out of the house for a bit!)
Sleep: I read in one of my books that “you’d never think you would ever dread going to bed” until you get late in the third trimester. Ladies and gentlemen, guess what happened this week? I apparently jinxed myself by posting last week that once I got comfortable, I was sleeping pretty well. I can no longer get comfortable and I am no longer sleeping well.
I wish I had my old green recliner. It was so comfortable…and so well-loved by everyone who sat in it that it plum gave out a few years back. What I wouldn’t give for that chair right now…
Movement: Baby boy’s new nickname is Sir Squirms-a-Lot. And I love it. He’s not moving as much or as frequently, but I love feeling his little squirms and wiggles. He also takes after his mama and loves the shower in the morning. If I let the water spray directly on my stomach, I can sometimes get him to respond to it.
Food Oddities: I’ve been trying really hard to increase my fruits and vegetables. Well, fruits anyway. The only vegetable I will eat right now is peas. I’ve started having orange juice in the morning, a Buddy Fruit with lunch and try to have another fruit serving as well (usually a banana). And as for the peas…we eat them with dinner on average four times a week. I’m not sick of them yet, but Mike sure is.
Baby boy also takes after his mama in the food department. He has figured out when it’s time to eat and boy will he let me know it if I wait too long.
Symptoms: Status quo on the update from last week. I’ve had another really busy week at work, which has resulted in a very tired, very grumpy me by the time I get home from work. I try to shake it off on the way home so that I can enjoy time with Mike, but by the time 5:30 rolls around I am just done.
I’m continuing to get more uncomfortable. The evenings are the hardest…I’m pretty sure Mike calls me Ms. Squirms-a-Lot. I didn’t really know what “uncomfortable” would mean while pregnant – for me it’s a combination of restlessness, not being able to find a comfortable position to sit in and sometimes just being achy all over.
What people are saying:
Ok, people are really starting to stress me out. I’ve gotten numerous comments from coworkers and clients to the tune of “How much longer do you have?” “Do you have plans in place?” “What if he comes early” I realize my belly is huge, but he’s probably not going to arrive tomorrow. Calm down! Everything will work out just fine.
(No, these comments don’t irritate me at all when I have multiple deadlines on my plate…)
Sweet Moments: I love when Mike has his hands on my belly and then exclaims, “Was that you or him?!”
I also love the new robe I got the other week and Mike has said several times, “You look so warm and fluffy!”
And a gem from tonight, “Honey this sucks!!” (in reference to using a hand pump to blow up my new balance ball) Hmm…probably shouldn’t mention that maybe I’d like to exchange the one we got for one slightly bigger…
Make room for baby: Work threw me a shower on Friday and we were just spoiled rotten! It was so nice to have a chance to relax and socialize after a brutal week, and I got so many cute things for the baby.
One of my favorite things is a cuddly stuffed Dumbo that is too cute for words. We also got the Snug-a-Bunny swing, which fits perfectly in the corner where we wanted to put it. My dad and brother put it together for me, and then my dad stuck Dumbo in it for a test ride. Too funny! (It was also really sweet because both of them were making sure the screws were tight enough and when it was assembled my dad was testing to make sure it was nice and sturdy.)
At this point, we are pretty much set to go. We’re more than ready actually. I’ve been so blessed with gifts and hand-me-downs!!
Mike and I spent a good portion of the weekend preparing for baby – washing clothes and linens, getting organized, etc. Mike was such a huge help!
Sidenote: How many #$%@ tiny plastic ties do you need to secure baby items to packaging?!? Holy goodness, I feel like I spent half my weekend just getting blankets, towels, etc. out of the packaging.
Miss Anything? Sitting or laying down without something aching…
Looking forward to: A busy few weeks – out-of-town friends, Thanksgiving, my brother’s wedding and then baby boy will almost be here. I can’t believe we are this close to the finish line!
Most embarrassing moment this week: I clogged up the toilet so bad we had to call maintenance. My husband tried to unclog it for two days. I think all the extra bathroom trips – and thus toilet tissue – just eventually overwhelmed it. I did get a nice (sarcasm) note from maintenance telling me only toilet paper should be used in the toilet. Umm…I’m 8 ½ months pregnant…what the heck else could I possibly be putting in there??
Best moment this week: My work shower on Friday was so much fun! Also, I got to spend some time with my dad and brother after work, and it was great to catch up with them!
