Last weekend, L.J. attended his first birthday party. His friend, Alessia, was celebrating her first birthday. It was a bit of a milestone for our family since this was L.J.’s first opportunity to do something social with other kids and it was the first time Mike and I had done a “family event” with other families.
Alessia rocked her smash cake, and after the family pictures were done I took L.J. over so she could give him a few pointers:
One family brought their 2-week-old newborn baby. He was so tiny and new! I heard someone say that he was 8 lbs when he was born, which is similar to L.J., but I thought this baby looked a lot smaller than I remember L.J. being at that age. Mike thought the same thing.
I went back and looked at a few pictures when I got home and apparently new-parent memory is indeed a fuzzy thing. It was bittersweet to look at the pictures and realize that not so long ago, L.J. was that tiny and new.
