Personality/Playtime
I’m combining these two categories as this month has really been a continuation of the previous one. L.J. is still very outgoing and social. One of his most endearing traits is the way he will smile and flirt with someone to get their attention. It is too cute for words.
He continues to be a busy little bee and is curious about everything. He has transitioned from grabbing whatever is closest to him to purposely selecting and playing with particular toys. Right now, his VTech ball, Fisher Price ring stacker and his Fisher Price sorting bucket/roller balls are his favorite playthings.
He is almost sitting completely independently, tumbling much less frequently these days. And Little Man is on the move! He first tentative rolls a few weeks ago have turned into barrel rolls across the room. He can get almost anywhere by rolling (including changing direction) and he is fast!
Bedtime stories are still challenging at the moment. Hopefully we’ll be able to get back into a story time routine when he is a bit bigger. I still try but it hasn’t been very successful.
Eating
L.J. is still eating 7 ounces every 4 hours. He has had a lot of problems with spitting up. It seems like a lot of babies are spitty as newborns and transition out of it; the opposite is happening with L.J. We may try a different type of his formula to see if that helps.
We’ve continued to introduce food to L.J., adding apricots, prunes, squash, carrots and spinach to the mix. We learned the hard way that carrots permanently stain everything they touch.
He now eats Puffs with no trouble, and would eat copious amounts of them if we’d let him. He loves puffs! In terms of finger foods, he’s also had rice cakes, a hamburger bun, and chunks of banana and pear.
My mom taught showed me how to give him water out of a straw and that might be his new favorite thing. He thinks he’s big stuff when we do that!
Sleeping
Nothing new on the sleep front. He’s pushed his bedtime a little earlier, but is still sleeping through the night. We did have a rough patch partway through the month where he was waking up at 4 a.m. Fortunately that didn’t last long!
Still struggling with naps. He doesn’t nap well at school, but has starting napping much better for us at home on the weekends. Not sure what to make of that?
Milestones/Firsts
L.J. is now a confident roller! He rolls everywhere and is always on the move!
L.J. also had his first table food this month.
Dear L.J.,
Daddy and I always ate family dinners growing up, and now we are able to start that tradition with you. We thought we would miss catching up on the news, but we really haven’t missed it at all. We so enjoy being able to sit together at the table as a family of three. Your highchair clips right to the table and it was the best purchase ever – you love to sit up at the table like a big boy! We are delighting in your new discoveries – food among them – and are excited for all the family memories and traditions yet to come. We love you more than words baby boy!
Love,
Mommy
