Landon –16 Months

IMG_5118

What’s L.J. up to at 16 months?

  • He loves, loves, loves to play outside. It’s his favorite place to be.
  • He has officially switched lovie loyalties and has become very attached to his blue blanket.
  • Starting to understand how his shape sorters work, but gets frustrated when he can’t successfully insert a shape.
  • Enjoys books! His favorites continue to be his two alphabet books, which we read over and over (and over and over and over…)
  • Really likes push toys, which enable him to practice walking. Strollers, his highchair and tables/chairs all count as “push toys” in his world.
  • He’s officially walking!!
  • Loves bath time and water in general.
  • Is still part billy goat and will eat wipes/napkins/tissues if given the slightest opportunity.
  • Added two new words to his vocabulary – “da” for “Dada” and “dah” for “Dog”. He talks very little, instead communicating via babbling, grunting and pointing. (He’ll throw his whole body into the pointing if he really wants something!)
  • Continuing to become a pickier eater. Pizza, mandarin oranges and any kind of bread or cheese have topped the favorites list this month. Vegetables and meat are hit or miss.
  • More affectionate with mommy and daddy, frequently wanting to sit on our laps and giving kisses upon request. Along with this, he’s been clingier at school, not wanting me to leave in the mornings. (Which is totally for show because he adores school…)
  • Quickest ways to tick him off are to sit him down (he likes to be held) or change his diaper.
  • Not a fan of sitting in the shopping cart for extended periods or being confined in any way, shape or form. Too much to explore! (Free grocery store cookies are a lifesaver…I can make one last for a good 4-6 aisles)

No doctor’s appointment this month, so no update on his stats. He’s still our little chart-topper as far as I can tell.

Personality wise, he’s still his typical happy-go-lucky little self. Still extremely social, but at home he is capable and willing to entertain himself for short periods of time. (But of course not in the morning when we’re trying to get ready…) He can be cranky and irritable when he’s teething – two more molars this month! – but otherwise is pretty even-keeled.

Toddlerhood can try our patience at times, but we adore L.J.'s bubbly, happy personality and are often quite bemused by the mischief he gets into. There is never a shortage of entertainment at the Holmes house these days!
