We invited friends over to celebrate July 4th. It was the first time some of
them had seen the new house, and we had L.J. acting as a human billboard to
share our baby news. It was such a cute way to make the announcement and I loved
seeing everyone’s reactions when they saw his shirt and realized what it meant!
We had a great time celebrating the holiday – though in all honesty it was
kind of chaotic. Sixteen adults and eight kids ranging from 4 weeks to 3 years
made for quite a houseful! It was wonderful seeing everyone, though, and I think
everyone had a great time. The floorplan of our new house works really well for
entertaining. The kids had an absolute blast together! The hands-down favorite
activity was the sand table on the screened porch. We got up Sunday morning and
realized there was sand everywhere. All over the porch. All over the
kitchen floor. We had a bit of vacuuming to do!
I took one picture all evening. There was just too much going on! I was
really enjoying spending time with people I don’t see that often so picture
taking was completely an afterthought. My friend shared this cute shot with me – probably the only time these two were
still the whole evening.
Most people had left by the time the fireworks started, but we were lucky to
catch glimpses of them from our screened porch. Yay for legal fireworks in
Georgia! L.J. was neither impressed nor scared of them. He thought they were
interesting, but by that point he was running on the last dredges of adrenaline
and a live elephant probably wouldn’t have phased him.
