Reverse Course

L.J.’s big boy bed transition started out promising but quickly took a right turn into “failure” category. It started with the lengthy transition from awake to asleep, started to veer off course when he began wandering around his room, the guest room and the baby’s room and then ran off the road altogether when we started finding him in his room, lights on and completely naked.

It gets better/worse:
  • The closet, dresser or diaper sleeves have been emptied on several occasions.
  • Once it mysteriously snowed wet wipes all over his room.
  • One night he ripped his Diaper Genie completely apart – breaking the lid, tearing out a brand-new bag refill and scattering the (fortunately few) soiled diapers around the base.
  •  Another night he pulled the night light out of the wall, took it apart and then ripped the socket plate off the wall.

These behaviors were not acceptable nor were they safe. We were at a crossroads – he’s entirely too big for his crib, but what other option did we have? Our solution has been to put him to sleep in his crib and then move him into his big bed before we go to sleep at night. He doesn’t seem to mind it and we keep our sanity intact!

Well he is cute...even when he's misbehaving...
