We decided to get a live tree this year, and once again took advantage of Costco’s great pricing. Our tree isn’t quite as pretty as the last one, with a few gaps and bottom branches that refuse to get any closer to the tree skirt, but it is the perfect size for the family room.
I’ve come to the conclusion that decorating a Christmas tree is just plain torture for my perfectionist self. The lights refused to arrange themselves in a magazine-worthy manner and I still can’t decide if I like the tree with just our family ornaments or if I should have added our red/green/gold balls to it. It doesn’t matter either way, because one thing I have decided is that I am entirely too pregnant to fuss over the “perfect” Christmas tree. It will have to be enjoyed in its slightly Charlie Brown state.
In other Christmas news, I set up a small manger for L.J. in his room, complete with the figurines I enjoyed as a young child. He is very interested in this set and played with a lot this weekend. The manger is “Baby Jeebus’ house” and his preferred mode of transportation for the Holy Family is his big car carrier. One of the Wise Men is typically charged with driving the carrier and helping to load/unload the Family, a sheep and the other two Wise Men.
We’ve tried quite unsuccessfully to teach L.J. that it’s ‘Baby Jesus’ and not ‘Baby Jeebus’ but he just looks at us like we’re nuts. Oh well, ‘Baby Jeebus’ is adorable and I’m sure he’ll learn the correct name when he starts Sunday School.
