Twelve for Tuesday

Some thoughts on pregnancy:

  • Cleavage is an entirely new concept for me. I’ve never had to worry about bending over in a v-neck top before, nor have I previously had issues with dropping food down my shirt.
  • Pregnancy brain does exist.
  • Even before the baby is born, you will learn how to beg your baby to please just go to sleep!
  • And then, on a quiet day, you will beg your baby to please give mommy a little kick!
  • I’m convinced people who say they “loved being pregnant” are slightly delusional.
  • Though one thing I do love about being pregnant is all the smiles and well-wishes that come from strangers…pregnant bellies can put a smile on even the most curmudgeonly person.
  • You will watch athletic events on TV wistfully, wishing you had even a fraction of the athletes’ energy.
  • Your beloved shoe collection will become considerably smaller as you only wear shoes that are a.) flats or b.) don’t require any kind of fastening.
  • It’s great fun to put on a non-maternity t-shirt and marvel at how it doesn’t cover your belly. Grow baby grow!
  • It is not fun to marvel at what is happening to your belly button…
  • Remember how Ralphie’s little brother in A Christmas Story falls over in his snowsuit and can’t get up? Yeah, pregnancy feels like that sometimes.
  • But on the flip side, the first time you really feel your baby kick and move inside you is like the magic carpet ride from Aladdin.
