29 Weeks

How far along? 29 weeks, 1 days

How big is baby? About the size of an acorn squash.

Total weight gain: Right around 17 pounds. My husband is entirely too amused by the fact that we are likely to weigh about the same by the end of my pregnancy.

Maternity clothes? Yes. And I’ve finally outgrown my roomiest t-shirt, which means I have officially raided my husband’s t-shirt drawer for one a size larger.

Stretch marks? Not yet.

Exercise? Nothing to see here. Moving on…

Sleep: I’ve had a pretty good stretch of halfway decent sleep, so happy about that. I’ve started rolling over onto my back again, which is really uncomfortable and definitely wakes me up at this stage of pregnancy.

Movement: He continues to move around more frequently. Now it’s not uncommon for him to be moving around when I wake up and early in the morning. He’s normally fairly quiet throughout the day (though it depends on the day) and is active after dinner and in the evening.

His newest trick is that he will sometimes stick his bottom out if I rub the right side of my belly. It’s really adorable when he does that.

Food Oddities: Nothing new here, so we’ll go with one of my new favorite things: Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses. They are so good!!

Gender: It’s a BOY!!

Labor Signs: Nope.

Symptoms: Great news – my glucose panel came back normal! I wasn’t expecting it to not come back normal, but still good news to hear.

I’ve been doing a lot better with the lightheadedness issues and am hoping that means the worst is behind me. I still struggle with standing and walking distances and as a result the support hose continue to be an absolute necessity.

Tiredness seems to be creeping back in and as work has picked up I frequently find myself absolutely exhausted by the end of the day.

I’ve been taking the iron pills, though too early to see what effect they are having. They are such a pain in the butt to take! You can’t take them on an empty stomach, with any kind of dairy and can’t use antacids within a certain period of taking them. And you have to remain sitting up for a half hour after taking them. I read the pamphlet and apparently the pills also contain a stool softener…let’s just say I’m pretty sure that’s a big fat lie.

Heartburn is a frequent companion, but thankfully one Tums usually resolves it quickly. I wonder if all this heartburn means baby boy will be born with lots of hair?

What people are saying: It seems like everyone is commenting on my stomach lately! I am all belly with this baby, and on my thin frame it really sticks out. I love it, and apparently everyone else does too.

I also don’t really look pregnant from behind. I get a kick out of people’s reactions when I turn around and they are surprised to find out that I am quite pregnant!

Sweet Moments: Mike always says goodbye to both me and the baby in the morning, which I think is the sweetest thing ever. Usually he’ll say something along the lines of, “Bye buddy! Be good for mommy today!”

Sometimes after dinner if we’re sitting on the couch and baby boy is moving around Mike will lean over and say hi to the baby and give my belly a kiss. Makes me melt every time.

And then, as all husband’s do, he occasionally will say the absolute craziest thing ever. This next little bit may be tmi, but it was hilarious. Mike was having a few digestive troubles one night this week, and we had just gotten in bed when this gem of a conversation ensued:

Mike: Do we have any of that stuff yet that prevents, um…dry rot…in babies?
Me: What?!?
Mike: You know, the cream you put on their bottom when it’s sore.
Me: You mean diaper rash cream? For DIAPER RASH?
Mike: Yeah, that stuff.
Me: No, not yet. And I can’t believe you called it dry rot…
Mike: Well my butt’s on fire and I thought it might help.
Me: [Laughing hysterically…]

(Actually, what I said was “That is so going on the blog!”)

Make room for baby: One of my print vendor’s brought over a gift for the baby, and it is the absolute softest blanket. Seriously, I might hijack it and use it myself…

Miss Anything? I can’t tie my shoes!! Realized yesterday morning that I can’t bend (or lean) down to tie my shoes. I had to hike my foot up onto my knee and tie them sideways. It was funny and annoying at the same time.

Looking forward to: The beach!! I’m so excited to be going on my company’s award trip (with Mike!) to Amelia Island, complete with a stay at the Ritz. Is it sad that one of the things Mike and I are most looking forward to about the trip is sleeping in a king-sized bed?

Worst/most embarrassing moment this week: None so far this week!

Best moment this week: Definitely Mike referring to diaper rash as “dry rot.” I’m still laughing about it!
