About that helmet…

My initial optimism about how L.J. is adjusting to his helmet turned out to be short-lived. He’s doing the best he can, but it’s taking a bit more getting used to than we thought.

He starts out fairly indifferent to it…

But after about two hours, this is par for the course:

In his defense, Little Man is also teething, so who can blame him? His mouth hurts, and then on top of that he gets a (temporarily) uncomfortable and hot helmet shoved on his head. I’d protest, too!

The orthotist said babies tend to adapt to the helmets quickly, so we’re hopeful that by the end of the week L.J. will be more comfortable with it. We’re doing our best to help him adjust, keeping him cool and giving him breaks when he gets really upset.

P.S. – About cleaning the helmet with rubbing alcohol: we learned the hard way that rubbing alcohol will leave a white stain on wood furniture. Oops. Been Googling how to fix it…
