L.J. – 44 and 45 Weeks

Expanding vocabulary

Do you know what “Ga” means? Neither do we, but L.J. figured out how to say it last Saturday and has been saying it repeatedly ever since. Sometimes he alters it by saying “Guh” or “Gock” – but mostly it’s “Ga!”

He is immensely pleased with his new word! In fact, I noticed that naptime and bedtime last weekend were often delayed as he spent a few more minutes practicing.

“Ga” has joined “Ah” as the second “word” in L.J.’s vocabulary. While we have no idea what “Ga” refers to (if anything), “Ah” means “Hi!”

He’s been saying “Ah!” for a couple weeks now, and we recently realized he’s telling us (or anyone else) “Hi!” when he says it. We think it’s adorable, though not sure we can count it as his first word since technically it sounds nothing like “Hi!” :)

…and appetite

In the past three weeks L.J. has eaten three board books and mangled several others. And by eaten I mean “chewed and swallowed pieces of cardboard and then barfed them up onto the carpet 15 minutes later.” While I would love for L.J. to be expanding his vocabulary by reading said books, apparently eating them is more fun.

On the move

This weekend we witnessed L.J.’s first attempts at crawling! I use the term crawling loosely, as his movement more closely resembled someone trying to army crawl on a sand dune. Regardless, we have been working on crawling for quite some time now and are quite proud of his efforts!

By the way…L.J.’s 45 Week picture describes him perfectly! He is always moving! A fellow mom saw him peacefully laying in his stroller this weekend and asked with a bit of awe, “Wow, is he always that quiet and still?!” My honest response was, “Almost never. He hasn’t quite finished waking up yet!”
