L.J. and I had a lot of fun hanging out with Nana, Grandpa, Uncle J.T. and Aunt Becky all weekend! We ate a lot, played a lot and enjoyed each other’s company.
My mom treated us to a mani/pedi, which was wonderful! It was great to get out for a little bit of girl time. Also, L.J. and I went out to dinner with J.T. and Becky. We went to their favorite restaurant – Bacon Bros. – and it was delicious!
(Mike was at a golf tournament in Kansas that was so rainy they almost built an ark. I was not jealous.)
On Saturday, Nana and Grandpa treated L.J. to a Cozy Coupe. This was a slightly calculated move, because L.J. can drive the car using his own two feet. Unlike his blue car (see also: his favorite toy in the entire world), it does not require an adult chauffer.
L.J. did his best to help Grandpa with the assembly, but mostly he just sat in the shell of the car waiting for us to hurry up and finish it already.
Other notable moments from our time in South Carolina included…
Hair trim by Nana, who is far more skilled than we are at cutting hair:
Celebrating the start of summer by filling up the baby pool, which was a complete bust. L.J. wanted nothing to do with the chilly water!
While the rest of us enjoyed my dad’s delicious grilled salmon, L.J. demonstrated a new way to enjoy corn on the cob.
And, lastly, I was so eager to get a picture of L.J. sleeping in my baby crib. My parents set it up for him in the new house and even got a new mattress for it.
Do you see that picture? No? Well, that’s because L.J. refused to sleep in it. My parents recently moved into a new house and L.J. was not fond of sleeping in an unfamiliar environment. The earliest he went to bed all weekend was 9:00 and that was only if he was in his familiar pack ‘n play and I was in the room with him. Yes, it was trying on everyone, especially me! (We eventually got him to take a couple shorter-than-usual naps in the crib)
L.J. also continued his recent eating trends, showing off and eating just about anything Nana gave him but eating only cheese and carbs for everyone else. Sigh.
We headed home on Monday, stopping for lunch with Grandma and Aunt Ashley. Then we wrapped up our long Memorial Day weekend with a barbecue at the home of one of L.J.’s classmates. They are still too young to play together (vs. parallel play), but it was really cute to see them recognize each other when we arrived!
