I told Mike that for Mother’s Day what I wanted was to not have to wash a single dish, clean a poopy diaper or feel irritated at my child once throughout the day. I failed on all three of those. Even though Mother’s Day is supposedly a vacation from the daily duties of mothering – well, mothering is a 24/7 job! I agree with the sentiment that it’s the hardest yet most rewarding job there is.
We had a quiet day, as I was still recovering from a stomach bug. Who comes down with a stomach virus on Friday?! That’s just not cool. Anyway, I digress.
L.J. and I survived church. Daddy stayed home to continue to work on our jungle – I mean yard – so I braved mass with a 17-month old. L.J.did pretty darn well! He was quiet through most of it, though definitely not still. I couldn’t tell you a single thing that was read or said – good thing the Catholic mass is pretty rote – but I made a good faith effort (no pun intended) to take L.J. to church so it counts as a win in my book.
We met our goal of getting much of the chores done by early afternoon so we could enjoy the nice weather at the park. Ok, so that was for L.J. – and he loved it as always! We also went on a walk and Daddy grilled some delicious steaks for dinner. All around a nice quiet day, which is just what I wanted.
I love this photo of the two of you!
