The theme of this year’s week at the beach (for me at least) was “relax, refresh and recover.” Mission accomplished!
L.J. is still about a year shy of really getting into the beach and pool, but he enjoyed both in small doses. It worked out fine – both mommy and L.J. enjoyed afternoon naps!
We played our customary round of putt putt golf, which was a bit more challenging this year with a toddler along for the adventure. We concentrated on the game; he concentrated on snatching our golf balls off the greens, eating snacks and petting the realistic-but-fake animals.
A highlight of the trip was spending a morning with my dear friend Julie and her kids. We went to Lawton Stables to pet the animals, then went down to Sea Pines for playground and lunch time.
By Thursday L.J. was wearing down and on Friday I spent more time putting sunscreen on him than we spent at the actual pool. So much for my plan of a fun morning swimming with mommy. I took him to the small children’s museum instead. They had a small toddler area that reminded me quite a bit of his school – he spent 45 minutes in there happily puttering around.
While we didn’t pack as many activities or take as many pictures this year, it was every bit as enjoyable as our previous beach trips! Funny how sometimes the timing of things works out just right.
