The words are coming! The words are coming! L.J.’s vocabulary is growing daily. There is still a lot of gibberish (spoken and sung), but he’s quickly learning new words and will usually try to repeat a word if you ask him to. I love listening to him on weekend mornings – he’s usually downstairs with daddy happily talking a blue streak over breakfast.
Climbing. Uggh. He’s figured out how to climb and it is not awesome!
We may have sort-of cracked the code about his picky eating at home. He typically wants a fork, dipping sauce and/or a cup. Usually all three. Now that he can communicate these requests to us (for the most part), it’s resulted in less frustration and more food consumed (for the most part).
Speaking of a fork, he’s working very hard on his maneuvering skills and getting pretty good at it. He practices every night at dinner. In other words, it takes him forever to eat but he’s eating more so we’re not complaining!
Several new toys have been big hits recently: a latch board, set of matching cards and Mr. Potato Head. And Matchbox cars… “car-car” is oft-repeated at our house.
Speaking of cars, he is mildly obsessed with Mommy and Daddy’s cars. He loves anything to do with cars, knows exactly where we keep the keys and how to use the openers and will drop what he’s doing instantly if the magical words, “L.J. do you want to go bye-bye?” are uttered. When he gets out of the car he says, “Bye-bye car-car!” In fact, that was his very first two-word phrase.
He still wears his ball cap most of the day, every day. He’s known for it at school and I have to say he looks so handsome in it!
We need to get a kid-sized broom because he loves to “help” me clean around the house! He’ll drag the big broom out of the pantry and it doesn’t bode well for the walls or any human standing within a few feet of him.
