My Grandma passed away peacefully shortly after midnight on Tuesday, July 1.
She said several times last week that she was ready and she was ok, reiterating that she’d had a great life. I know there were so many people on the other side waiting to welcome her – her parents, siblings, beloved husband and her best friend.
But for those of us still on earth, we are heartbroken. My Grandma was a huge presence in my life and a part of so many cherished memories. She was – and is – fiercely loved and will be terribly missed.
At some point I will share pictures and memories. But for now it’s still too new, too hard. In due time the grief will fade, and I am so glad that my memories will bring smiles, laughter and happy tears. She is truly someone to be celebrated, not mourned. That’s the way she would want it.
