The holiday season has been fun this year because L.J. is old enough to understand Santa Claus. It is magical seeing the wonder of Christmas through a child’s eyes.
We’ve had two opportunities to see Santa. Our neighborhood hosted Santa one evening, and transformed the pool pavillon into a winter wonderland for his visit. Mike and I could not stop talking about what an awesome job they did!
L.J. patiently stood in line and eagerly peeped around the doorway when we were nearly there. He was very excited! Up close and in person, Santa is still a little intimidating when you are three – so we got our third year of stoic Santa pictures.
Santa also thought it would be quite funny to take a picture comparing his belly to mine. Not expecting to be in a photo, I wasn’t exactly dressed for the occasion and the shirt I had on did not do my immense belly justice. But it was a fun picture all the same!
The following weekend, Santa returned to Georgia to partake in a pancake breakfast at Aunt Ashley’s school. We drove (and drove…holy cow…) out to see him again. L.J. was all over this because 1.) Santa and 2.) pancakes. Unfortunately his festive mood didn’t last and he spent most of the time laying on daddy’s shoulder and glaring at anyone who dared look at him.
The result: more stoic Santa pictures!
Regardless, after two visits with Santa, L.J. is quite excited about his impending arrival on Christmas Eve!
