12 Weeks has been looming large, though this week is more a milestone for me than it is for Hannah. My 12 weeks of maternity leave end this week and I will return to work on Monday.
I have different feelings and emotions this time versus what I experienced with L.J. Daycare is not new or overwhelming this time. The adjustment to a new “new normal” hopefully won’t be as monumental this time. I think my feelings can be summed up as a reluctant resignation to it is what it is.
I am very nervous about Hannah starting daycare. Her fussiness, eating issues and wanting to be held constantly are all concerns. But Monday is only a short weekend away and we must both put on our big girl pants and do our best.
Oh screw Pollyanna. It sucks. She’s not ready and I’m not ready to leave her. I don’t want to leave her or Landon. I’m not ready to upend the apple cart and lose the balance we’ve carved out over the past three months. Yes, even with a newborn and Mike’s busy season factored in. Big sigh and crocodile tears.
In other news, Week 12 has seen more interaction from Miss Hannah. She’s now cooing, kicking her legs and giggling. One of my favorite memories so far is seeing her smile and laugh at L.J. She thinks he’s awesome!
I called the doctor about her 3 oz/2 hr eating schedule and was told that was very abnormal and she needed to be evaluated. Her weight gain is fine, thankfully. It’s likely constipation and possibly silent reflux causing the problem. Per the pediatrician we’re adding a bit of apple juice (constipation) and Zantac to her diet to see if that helps.
Firsts for Hannah this week: Mets opening day and a trip to the Georgia Aquarium!
I was so excited to take L.J. to the aquarium. I thought he would love it and it would be a perfect memory to take back to work with me next week. Um, it was a colossal fail. His behavior was awful. I felt so defeated afterwards, but every outing can’t be a win, right?
