Hannah's First Day of School

We all survived the first day! I had the video monitor up most of the day, checking in on “Hannah” periodically. I use quotes because I couldn’t really tell which blob of kicking feet was her most of the time. Today she wore orange stripes – much easier to spot her that way!

Her teachers said that she had a great first day! They reported that she was very sweet, not too fussy, didn’t projectile spit on anyone and ate every two hours. I was so pleased and relieved to hear that her first day went well.

After we got home and settled, I snuggled up on the couch with her and she was fast asleep in less than two minutes. Best part of my day! She was worn out; she slept from 6 p.m. until 6 a.m. with only two brief awakenings courtesy of her brother.

How did mommy do? I did fine. My coworkers decorated my office to welcome me back; it took me 40 minutes to clear the post-its off my desk. The rest of the day was quiet; no meetings or real work yet. I missed my mid-afternoon “quiet time” where I’d read a magazine or zone out to House Hunters, and I was very eager to pick up my kiddos by the end of the day!
