Hannah – 15, 16 & 17 Weeks

Week 15 and Week 16 have been big weeks for Sister Bear. Most of these skills were officially checked off during Week 16, but she’s been practicing them for a while.IMG_9852

She can now push up on her arms when she is on her tummy and turn around in her crib or on the floor. She also rolled over for the first time on April 30! It was very cool that my dad was there and got to witness one of her big “firsts”.

She loves to move around and kick her legs. She has almost kicked herself out of her bouncer several times! Cue: “So that’s why they come with safety straps!” I never could figure out the point of having them with tiny, immobile newborns.

Hannah also got her first doll! I was absentmindedly showing her toys at Barnes & Noble, and she was instantly fascinated with this brightly-colored doll. As you can see, it came home with us. She really likes it and gets peeved at you if you’re playing with her and take it away.

She can grab hold of the doll and is also starting to bat and grab at toys on her play mat.

Blowing bubbles is Hannah’s new sport of choice, and she really enjoys “talking” to people.

Whew – she has accomplished A LOT in a short amount of time!!

Another first this week – not fun but for posterity’s sake – she was diagnosed with bronchiolitis. We’re working on treatment now; L.J. had the same thing at almost the same age. I hope they don’t twin up on ear infections/tubes like they have on other sicknesses so far!

Well, clearly I didn’t get this posted in time because now we’ve reached Week 17! Hannah is continuing to grow and change at a rapid pace. Her smiles are the best and seeing her recognize me and then get a huge smile on her face when I pick her up is a total highlight of my day.

Two firsts this week:

  • First time riding in the Ergo carrier! She’s finally big enough! We rolled up a cloth diaper to boost her up a little higher and it worked perfectly. (So does that mean she’s actually almost big enough? Haha)

  • First time sleeping in her crib! Wednesday, May 11 was her first night in her crib. I survived! Just kidding, sort of. I don’t know why I’ve been so reluctant to move her. I love having her 2 feet from me. She did perfectly fine, of course.
