Landon – 3 Weeks

L.J. celebrated his 3 week milestone by ringing in the New Year! (He was much more awake than mommy and daddy were at midnight!)

Carson Daly was rockin’ New Year’s Eve; I was rockin’ the “exhausted new mommy” look. Yikes…

We had a very low-key NYE at home this year for obvious reasons, but it was still very special because this year I got to exchange a New Year’s kiss with my husband and my new baby boy. I can’t wait to see what adventures 2013 has in store for our little family!

At 3 weeks L.J. continues to be an overall easy baby. We have been very blessed by that thus far! His schedule is pretty much as follows:

• Sleep
• Wake up fussing
• Eat
• Hang out for a little bit
• Fall back asleep, preferably while being held
• Repeat every 3 hours

He has his fussy moments, but all babies do. Normally when he’s fussy he just wants to be held. The trick is figuring out how he wants to be held at that particular moment – which sometimes takes us a few tries to figure out.

The hardest time of day is bedtime. For reasons we haven’t yet figured out, L.J. does not like to go to bed. It takes anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 to get him settled down to sleep. Not exactly our favorite time of day…

L.J. has decided that baths really aren’t as bad as he first thought, especially when we let the faucet run on his arms and legs. (We’ve been using the kitchen sink, which works much better.) He doesn’t get a bath every day, but it’s tempting because he smells so good afterwards!

He’s a pee Houdini. Seriously…no matter how watchful or how quick we are, he can let a water cannon loose in the blink of an eye. He does this on average once a day, and then gets furious when a quick diaper change turns into an entire outfit change. We’ve tried to explain cause and effect to him, but he’s a bit too small to grasp the concept.

We took a fun picture this week. I have my grandma’s doll cradle, which her dad made for her when she was a little girl. It’s close to 80 years old. I wanted to make sure I got a picture of L.J. in it before he was too big to fit! I can’t wait to send this to her.
