Wow – I can’t believe we are only a few days away from L.J. being one month old! Where has the time gone?!?
Week 4 was a relatively quiet one for L.J. He had a good time hanging out with Grandma while I attended my sister-in-law’s birthday dinner:
And this past weekend we went for our first walk outside! This was more monumental for mommy than baby, as I was in seventh heaven to be a.) outside and b.) able to walk more than 10 feet without my legs giving out.
This week proved to be a bit more difficult in terms of L.J.’s fussiness. I think that he is ready for more of a routine with regards to naps and bedtime, so we have been working on that.
He has started taking a more naps in his crib, and if I put him in there “drowsy but awake” and turn his Sleep Sheep on he will usually fall asleep pretty quickly. (Sleep Sheep = Awesome)
Rocking him before naps and bed and singing softly seem to be working, too. I need to expand my singing repertoire beyond “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “Itsy, Bitsy Spider”…suggestions??
We had one big breakthrough this week: previously, if he started fussing after we laid him down, we’d pick him up. The past few days have taught me that if I let him fuss for a small amount of time (1-2 min max), he will often stop fussing on his own and go to sleep.
L.J. is getting bigger by the day! His 0-3 month onesies that we bought a couple weeks ago are already tight on him. He eats 4 ounces every 3 hours and has yet to meet a meal he doesn’t like :) He drains a bottle completely, but doesn’t seem quite ready for 4.5 or 5 ounces.
He is still, for the most part, an easygoing and content baby. He loves to be held and snuggled. If he’s fussy, it’s usually because he wants to be held.
Developmentally, he shed his first real tears this week. He is also getting better at controlling his hands (a.k.a. successfully shoving his fist in his mouth), but still has a ways to go before he really has control over them. I think we are also getting closer to his first social smile!
