L.J.’s First Steps!

I was ready to share some exciting L.J. news from last weekend, but instead we have some breaking news: L.J. has taken his first steps!!

L.J. took his first steps Wednesday night, March 12. He was 15 months and 1 day old. We were so excited for L.J. to reach this big milestone, and L.J. was so proud of his accomplishment.

He was sitting on the bottom stair and as he stood up I encouraged him to walk to me. He took 3 to 4 independent steps before landing in my lap for a big hug. Go L.J.!

Mike ran to get the camera and we captured his second set of steps on video – take a look:

I shared his accomplishment with his teachers this morning and they were so excited and so proud for him! Their reaction made it clear he hasn’t yet done this at school. We were the first ones to witness and share this extra-special milestone with L.J. and that made it all the sweeter.

A little girl in L.J.’s class took her first steps at school; her mom shared the news with me in tears the day it happened. My heart broke for her. Missing milestones weighs heavily on the minds of working moms. Even though there is always a “first time for us” it doesn’t change us wanting to be the “very first” to witness them. Walking is the big one and I am so, so thankful and happy that we got to see our sweet boy take his very first steps.
