Tired

These past few weeks have been hard. Between work, taking care of L.J., getting settled in the new house and doing most of it solo while Mike has been working…this mama is exhausted!

There have been multiple times recently when I’ve woken up and seriously had to think about what day of the week it was. Usually I’m hoping it’s Friday and then my phone rudely confirms that it’s only Tuesday.

L.J. has also been a bit more challenging than usual recently. We don’t really know why, but suspect it’s a combination of emerging molars and a newfound understanding of “control”. No matter what it is, it’s frustrating. Especially at the end of the day when everyone is tired.

He’s really been gaming the system with regards to bedtime. He’ll go to sleep for an hour or so and then wake up and want to come downstairs to sit on the couch and read books. We usually let him because the alternative is him standing in his crib and screaming like a rabid fox is about to attack. So how do we undo this bedtime flex schedule we’ve created??

And, to be honest, it’s been a bit lonely. I’d love to make some close-by mom friends and have playdates, but I don’t know where to start. All the obvious ways (e.g. library story time) cater to SAHMs. I’m hoping the warming weather will draw people outside and give me a chance to meet some of the moms in the neighborhood.

So, sigh. Thanks for letting me vent.

The good news is that Mike’s busy season is done. He’s home!! Spring has arrived and we’re kicking off the season with a wedding this weekend. Many of our friends will be there and it should be lots of fun!

We’re really anxious to settle back into a comfortable routine, enjoy family time together and get outside and play!!

Oh, and no matter how trying parenting a toddler can be at times…hands-down my favorite time of the day is when I go pickup L.J. and he greets me with the biggest smile! I love my little man!!
