We had a fun and busy weekend, with several notable things to share. Not an FFW because Mike didn’t have a game Saturday – yay!!
First up, I had a spontaneous girls night out Friday night. It was much needed and I so enjoyed catching up with two girlfriends over dinner. After dinner we watched the movie The Fault In Our Stars. I have been stalking On Demand waiting for the movie to become available – and it did not disappoint! The movie captured the wit and personality of the book very well, and overall stuck to the plot. Read the book first though – there are some subtle details in the movie you will miss if you haven’t read the book first.
Aside: You must read this book! I read it recently and it instantly landed in my Top 5. A bit different and not my usual genre, but I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend it – and it has more than 25,000 5-Star reviews on Amazon if you need further convincing.
Saturday was L.J.’s second gymnastics class, which I quickly discovered is as much of a workout for the parents as the kids. I was amazed at the dexterity of the toddler girls! My mom mentioned it last week, but whoa – big difference. L.J. wasn’t too keen on following directions this week. He decided the trampoline and foam pit was awesome and wanted to spend the entire class playing on it. I’m curious to watch his progress during the classes – I’m sure I’ll be saying “Whoa!” about his new skills come December.
Late Saturday afternoon – after some tree drama to be detailed later – L.J. and I went down to Brookhaven to see some goats! My company president’s neighborhood is working to create a greenway and are in the initial phases of prepping the land. They are using 27 goats (guarded by a Great Pyrenees) to help clear all the weeds, Kudzu, etc. from the area. How cool is that?!
The reception was for those who had sponsored a goat – our president had mentioned it in a meeting Friday and has been dying to see L.J. so we stopped by. We all know how much I love goats, so I needed no convincing whatsoever. It was really neat to see the goats and how they were clearing the land; L.J. was far more interested in eating a cookie the size of his head.
Sunday Mike and L.J. went to another Tenacious Q barbecue competition while I was practically giddy at the prospect of a few hours to go shopping. The barbecue competition was a success; the shopping not so much.
Whew…we packed a lot into this weekend!
