L.J. got a special surprise at gymnastics on Saturday – Uncle J.T. and Aunt Becky came to class! He was very excited to see them!
We’re midway through our gymnastics “season” and to be honest, it’s been hit or miss. L.J. doesn’t quite understand the structured participation; he just sees his two favorite activities and gets frustrated when it’s not time to do those things.
He likes the bars because of the climbing aspect, and he really likes the trampoline. He’d happily spend the entire class walking across the trampoline and stepping into the foam pit. He’s in heaven if you throw him into the foam pit! (Not sure that is an officially sanctioned activity…but….)
After gymnastics we all went out for pizza – delicious! L.J. and I had a pretty unstructured afternoon, which was really nice. I thought for our FFW activity we’d carve a pumpkin! I had visions of L.J. delighting in scooping out the goopy insides. Reality: he had really no interest in pumpkin carving.
I scooped out the insides, sorted the seeds and then set the pumpkin aside so we could go up to the park. He and his buddy W had a grand old time sitting under a neatly mulched tree throwing dirt clods around.
And while not “fun” in the traditional sense of the word, I took a comp day on Friday which was wonderful. I was able to browse through a few stores unrushed and with a 3-day weekend got the entire house cleaned and straightened. It’s so nice going into the week with your to-do list mostly checked off!
(Note that our pumpkin is scooped out but still yet to be carved…)
