L.J. has shown an increasing interest in animals lately, often singing Old MacDonald to himself and talking about the elephant/bison we pass each day. I thought it might be the perfect time to take him to the zoo.
The zoo was a big hit! We saw the elephant first and L.J.’s eyes were big as saucers. He was very excited about the elephant. He also really liked the zebras and the panda bears – which he insisted were polar bears.
The zoo held his interest the whole time. He looked carefully for the animals, following my finger-pointing to spot ones that were harder to see. He was so proud of himself when we saw animals that he knew the names for!
I invited my friend Katie and her baby to join us. It was great to catch up, and we enjoyed walking through the zoo together. The weather was great! Her son is only three months old and L.J. was very interested in him!
L.J. has talked about the zoo several times in the past few days – especially about the elephant and the baby – so looks like a return trip to the zoo and a visit to my friend are on our spring to-do list!
