L.J. was delighted to have another animal-filled weekend on the agenda. Saturday we went to a Sheep Party at our realtor’s house. Never heard of a sheep party before? Neither had we.
My realtor and her husband recently purchased a house with ivy covering pretty much their entire front yard. After doing some research, she found out that renting a flock of sheep was one of the more effective and economical options. Hence, a Sheep Party.
If sheep worked in corporate America, they’d probably be fired. They’re not really the 9-to-5 type. Read: they’re kind of lazy and they sleep a lot. Guests spent the first hour of the party encouraging the sheep to get up from the communal nap happening in the furthest corner of the yard. Eventually, they complied.
Everyone wanted the sheep to get up because we all wanted to see the newborn sheep. There were two 2-day old sheep in the flock and they were as adorable as expected.
There were quite a few other little kids at the party, so L.J. had a good time running around and burning off energy. He also clearly enjoyed the sheep, because he still asks to go back and see them! (Note: Post written week after party)
On Sunday we celebrated Easter early with Mike’s mom and his sister. They arrived with about 10 pounds of candy and a frog Easter basket that L.J. hasn’t let go of since. It’s sort of a big hit at the Holmes house right now. (And makes a very funny hat!)
The Easter basket was perfectly-timed for our neighborhood Easter egg hunt. We were really looking forward to this event and the opportunity to meet some of our new neighbors! L.J. was excited because we told him that there would be an Easter bunny in attendance.
This hunt was the first of what ended up being four. I wasn’t sure how he would do – he sometimes gets overwhelmed in crowds – but he did great! He had a lot of fun hunting eggs.
We met several of our neighbors and were thrilled to hear that there are many young families in the neighborhood! We are looking forward to warmer weather and the pool opening up.
Aunt Ashley played photographer and captured some wonderful photos of L.J. at the egg hunt! I can’t pick just a few favorites, so prepare for picture overload:
Chocolate Rabbit + Toddler = Really bad idea.
We were seriously regretting that decision around bedtime…
LJ doesn't look too sure about that Easter bunny! Great pictures! Y'all are a good-looking family!
